8. Paliwal Cemeteries

9. Nathmal Ki Haveli  

As they say, most beautiful places hold the darkest secrets, Nathmal Ki Haveli, one of Jaisalmer’s most exquisite havelis, is steeped in ghostly legends. While this 19th-century haveli is a stunning masterpiece of traditional Rajasthani architecture, it is also home to the spirit of one of its builders. It is said that Maharawal of Jaisalmer entrusted its construction to two brothers, who started working on either part of the building. While the project almost reached its final stages, one of the brothers noticed a discrepancy in designs and carvings on both sides. To avoid any strict action or blame, he secretly modified the designs to match the other side. Soon, the other brother figured out the changes, and out of anger, cursed the haveli to remain inhabited and haunted forever. Visitors have often experienced a strange sensation while walking through the hallways, which is believed to be of the spirit of the angry brother that still lingers in the building. His presence has been felt through disturbing sounds and unexplained movements of objects.
