Qatar government has come up with a special project to boost up tourism in the country. People of Qatar and tourists alike will be provided with 6 new beaches around West Bay as a part of this West Bay North Beach Project. These beaches will open at several hotels in the West Bay where tourists will also be able to enjoy several marine sports along with beach bath areas. The project will be carried out in two phases, in the first phase, six beaches will open to boost up tourism in the country followed by the second phase which will be larger.
Overall, as a part of this project, there will be one public beach and 12 private beaches to be operated by several hotels in an area of around 60,200 square meters. As per an interview given by Al-Khaldi, the project is a part of Qatar National Vision 2030 and will also play an important role in FIFA World Cup 2022 by offering tourists a complete beach for swimming, a park for entertainment and sports activities and an area for celebration to be used as a fan zone.
The project will also include opening up of various coffee shops, dining restaurants overlooking mesmerizing sea views, children's play areas, volleyball and beach soccer areas along with areas for jogging, cycling and walking. The project was started in August 2020 and will be open to public in August 2022 before FIFA World Cup.
