At 9 am, you will meet with the group at St Niklaus for a briefing with our guide for the 6-day Tour du Cervin walks. The first day was tough, with an ascent of 938m/3077 ft across high mountain pastures to 4000 m peaks from Saas-Fee, followed by a descent of 1075 m/3527ft into the Turtmann Valley. An awe-inspiring start to our walk. We overnighted at Grüben with our Zermatt and Tasch 5 nights 6 days tour package.
After breakfast, today we took an amazing journey to the chalets of the high mountain pasture of Chalteberg for a stunning view of the Turtmann glacier. Ascend via Forclaz Pass or Medipass, crossing the language divide between German and French-speaking Switzerland. Continue to Nava and Barneuza and visit the villages of Zinal and Grimentz in the Zinal Valley before ending our day in St Jean.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast to start your day at your hotel, and take a long hike to reach Haudères in Val d'Hérens, passing through Moiry Lake and Tsaté Pass (2868 m/9409ft). Along the way, you will be surrounded by the majestic peaks of Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Weisshorn, and Dent Blanche, all 4000 m plus peaks!
Have a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Begin your journey to the Bertol Hut, then the Plan de Bertol, which opens up to the Arolla Glacier. Cross the glacier with a small slope; no technical equipment is needed. Follow the historic route used by caravans between Switzerland and Italy via the Collon Pass. Arrive in the Italian hamlet of Prarayer with the stunning emerald lake of Place Moulin.
Have a leisurely breakfast. Today, experience a wild and alpine stage - the tour's longest and most technical stage. Using metal ladders, conquered the pass of Valcournera (3066 m/10,059ft). Follow a magnificent waterfall, cross the torrent of Cignana, and arrive at the 'Finestra di Cignana', where the Matterhorn appeared in all its glory.
Enjoy a great buffet breakfast to start your day at the hotel. Today ascend to the Théodule Pass via cable car, viewing the stunning Matterhorn. After arriving in Zermatt at 4 PM and took a taxi to Tasch to collect your luggage. You can ascend Breithorn (4165 m) at an additional cost of EUR500. The decision to ascend will depend on your guide's discretion and fitness. Those not ascending will descend with the walking guide, a drop of 1645 m/5397ft.
